Allegedly Metro Atlanta now sits directly in the middle of the “Possible places the center could go” cone. Funny how everyone thought it was going towards Charlotte, so all the evacuees came to ATL, and look what happens!

And because I’m just a horrible horrible person (We weren’t even testing for that )

This should be pretty horrendous. I wonder how we’ll deal with two total disaster zones, with one concentrated (Houston/Harvey) and one a long swath (from the tip of FL all the way to north of ATL).

Least the M3 will now be safe for sure.

Everyone in Jax is freaking out about it even though its only supposed to be a Tropical Storm by the time it gets here. Get me a book and a bottle of gin, I’ll save the stress for something worth it.

its not going to be a disaster in GA if it stays over FL. well no more of a disaster than ATL drivers in the rain generally are.

Hahaha. Seriously.

ATL is a mess even when nothing is going on. Add a hurricane, even a Cat1 or a tropical storm, and it’ll be like the end times.

They wouldn’t. The original track when the evac orders were being discussed was to go through SC and up I-77. So it made logical sense to go to Atlanta, which was out of the way.

Now that’s reversed. All the people from Florida are coming to Atlanta, when it makes more sense to go to Charlotte, since *that* is now out of the way.

Charlotte is the Austin of the east, it’s a huge magnet town. More attractive than Atlanta and more accessible than the Research Triangle (where you need more specific skills and housing costs are higher). Basically, you have a lot of people that have never really experienced a hurricane freaking the hell out at the prospect of one hitting the coast of their state.

Less of an issue than ice and snow.

Hell, I live where those happen regularly and people can’t drive in them. It’s probably the end of the world there.

I run winter tires here even though it rarely gets that cold.
